Thank you Elin.
I understand the distinction you are making. But there are examples of "proprietary" application (like the small application I created and mentioned in the post) which are not distributed. As far as the GPL goes the most relevant word seems to be distribution.
I used commercial fr two reasons: (1) I believe that financial greed is a motivator for infringement of GPL and (2) it will be a cleared distinction, I believe, for the people I had in mind when writing this post who are familiar or in the heat of the discussion.

Hi Iamronen,

Nice work but one quibble. You are using the word "commercial" where you should be saying "proprietary." Whether something is sold or not is independent of the license question. The GPL explicitly allows--and in fact forbids limitations on--commercial distribution.

Thanks for stopping by Andy. I had b2 in the first version - then for some reason I thought I had it wrong :) I will correct it thank you.

I was mentioning Thematic as an alternative framework which I do use - and as you say has hardly any interface :)

I think Thesis makes a mess of options that blog users don't need and are better off not having. I can imagine its a great selling point "have complete and easy control over the look of your blog" - but that is terribly misleading.

It was B2... and you have some conflicting use of Thematic/Thesis in one section that might confuse readers.
